GLASERFIX

Localised Repair of Glazed Sanitary Ware

GLASERFIX GLASERFIX GLASERFIX GLASERFIX

The objective of the GLASERFIX project is to propose an alternative method to refiring for repairing defects in glazed sanitary ware, based on the use of CO2 laser irradiation and more diffuse heating sources (e.g. IV lamps) for localised melting of adequate mixtures. This methodology allows for adequate temperature, cooling speed and temperature gradient control, thus avoiding the excessive thermal stress that has compromised this solution to the present date. The final stage of this project will consist of the evaluation of an eco-efficient, easily handled, adequately set prototype for the repair of glazed ceramic ware in an industrial environment. Industrial tests will be subsequently conducted, in order to validate the solution and the respective operating conditions.

This copromoted project was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), through Operational Programme COMPETE 2020.

The promoting consortium is formed by Sanindusa, Indústria de Sanitários, S.A., Maio, Carmo & Martins Lda., CTCV - Centro Tecnológico da Cerâmica e do Vidro, and the University of Aveiro.
